Stanley defiance 1209 clamp on bench vise portable jeweler gunsmith machinist 2 offered is a vintage high quality no1209 vise, as pictured. Operating screw is spring loaded to reduce backlash when adjusting jaw opening.

The finish original to tool is a very decent, showing less than normal wear see photos. The vise can be attached to a surface up about thick jaw surfaces measure x 1/2 and have useful working capacity of opening. The action is smooth with no binding, jaws close tight and square as can be expected, unpainted metal parts have aged to a rich dark patina rust. Hefty, it weighs in at well over 3 pounds.

Vise has removable fiberboard soft jaws modification made by a previous owner capacity reduced to about with installed. Well cared for, the tool is in superb mechanical condition. Item is warranted to be as described and sells with no reserve.

Jaw surfaces faces are clean no marring top surface shows some light file marks. Not your common portable, this item has a precision cast iron body well and with semi machined surfaces for accuracy, ease of motion strength.
